Joina leading independent technology and services provider as a Technician 2.
We are looking to recruit Senior Cabling / Smart Hands Engineer who will work within both Data Centre and Corporate environments to deliver advanced structured cabling, hardware installation, and onsite technical support.
1. Location: Peterborough
2. Daily Rate: A per hour rate, in-scope IR35, of £ PAYE) OR £ (via a Hays approved umbrellapany)
3. Contract Duration: 23-Mar-26 till 30-Sep-26
4. Working Hours : Mon - Fri 07:00 to 19:00
Key Responsibilities:
5. Work within Data Centre and Corporate environments to deliver cabling and Smart Hands support.
6. Install, terminate, and test fibre optic cables.
7. Use Fluke testing equipment for certification and fault diagnostics.
8. Install cable pathways including basket trays, trunking, and fibre runners.
9. Install power and data connection cables within server and networking racks.
10. Perform rack and stack of active network hardware (switches, routers, servers).
11. Follow patching schedules and cut sheets accurately.
12. Provide hands-on support to remote network and systems administrators.
13. Apply basic IP addressing under direction.
14. Install and configure UPS systems (desirable).
Key Requirements:
15. Minimum 3 years ’ hands-on experience in the structured cabling industry.
16. Strong understanding of Structured Cabling Solutions.
17. Proven experience working in Data Centre and Corporate environments.
18. Proficient in terminating and testing fibre optic cabling.
19. Experienced with Fluke test equipment and fault finding.
20. Strong munication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
21. Night / shift work / weekend work may be required on a project-by-project basis.
22. Willingness and ability to travel within the UK and internationally for project work.
