The Holbrook & Shotley Practice are looking to welcome a qualified dispenser into our busy dispensing practice on a full-time basis for 37.5 hours per week. The hours will be worked across both our dispensaries at Holbrook and Shotley surgeries, with additional hours as required to cover annual leave and sickness. You will play a full and active role as part of the practice multi-disciplinary team. If you are an experienced dispenser seeking an exciting new role, we'd love to hear from you.
Main duties of the job
* Ensure that all medicines and appliances dispensed are checked against the prescription. When in doubt about the appropriateness of an item, dose, or labelling instructions, consult the authorising doctor or duty doctor.
* Collect all prescription charges due and ensure the patient declaration on the reverse of the FP10 is completed and signed by the patient.
* Handle all monies received on behalf of the practice securely, and keep records of all financial transactions.
* Endorse prescription forms appropriately, and forward them securely to NHS Prescription Services for processing and reimbursement.
* Forward invoices and dispensary-related correspondence to the dispensary manager according to practice policy.
* Operate efficient stock control to ensure continuity of supply and minimize wastage due to expired stock.
* Store drugs properly following instructions, and maintain hygiene by regularly cleaning shelves and work surfaces.
* Keep accurate records of all dispensing transactions, utilizing computers when available and appropriate.
* Process and assemble dosette boxes.

Experience
* At least 1 year of dispensary and pharmacy experience.
* Strong clinical and medication knowledge.
* Experience working as a dispenser in a GP practice setting.
* Willingness to learn new clinical skills and develop your career.
* Confidence to work independently and as part of a busy practice team.
* Adaptability and flexibility in your approach.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with patients.
Qualifications
* Diploma Level 2/3 Dispensary or an equivalent Pharmacy Services qualification.
