What's in it for you:
We’re looking for a Shift Leader to join our team at One Stop, a subsidiary of Tesco. As a Shift Leader, you will work in a fast-paced retail environment where no day is the same.
You will take ownership of store activities by running duty shifts, co-ordinating a team to deliver a clean and full store that exceeds customer expectations. As the customer is at the heart of everything we do, you will constantly look for ways to improve service through on-the-job coaching and feedback.
You will have a great understanding of your store's performance and be the specialist in delivering practical actions for its improvement by taking a hands-on approach. With your guidance, your store will always remain a safe place to work and shop.
Responsibilities:
1. Coordinate the team to deliver the easiest shopping trip in the community.
2. Open and close the store, complete duty cover, and make decisions that are right for customers, colleagues, and safety.
3. Act as the go-to person for colleagues in the absence of the Store Manager for daily operational queries.
4. Support the Store Manager in coordinating seasonal, community, and charity events to create an inclusive atmosphere.
5. Ensure the store is always clean, tidy, and well-presented.
6. Prioritize replenishment of products that matter to customers.
7. Ensure point of sale and shelf edge labels are accurate.
8. Take immediate action for overcharges and prevent reoccurrence.
9. Manage queues proactively to enhance the shopping experience.
10. Coordinate colleagues to meet daily priorities and manage breaks effectively.
11. Follow health and safety routines and ensure colleagues do the same.
12. Communicate effectively with the team and share ideas for operational improvements.
13. Always put the customer first, resolving queries and adjusting service to meet their needs.
14. Recognize and celebrate colleagues providing excellent service.
15. Address obstacles to delivering great service and escalate issues when necessary.
16. Ensure appropriate staffing levels and manage short-term absences by finding cover.
17. Be a recognized Keyholder, attending alarm call-outs to ensure store safety and security.
18. Monitor and act on internal communications promptly.
19. Support store operations and feedback issues to the Store Manager.
20. Balance time across service and replenishment areas.
21. Assist in managing employee absence and conduct return-to-work interviews.
22. Build relationships with Area Managers and People Partners, seeking advice and coaching opportunities.
23. If applicable, manage day-to-day operations of the Post Office, including background checks for criminal and financial history.
