Main duties of the job
We’re seeking a dynamic and skilled Deputy Nurse Manager to join our forward-thinking team. In this key leadership role, you’ll support the Nurse Manager in delivering outstanding palliative care and driving continual improvements across our clinical services.

What We’re Looking For
You’ll be a Registered Nurse with:
* Experience of palliative and end of life care
* Able to demonstrate management skills and experience
* Research, audit and clinical governance awareness
* Experience of participating in audits and staff development
* Experience of teaching experience within the clinical setting
* A passion for mentoring, education, and supporting continuous professional development
* A proactive, flexible approach with the ability to influence and drive positive change

Job summary
Location: The Prince of Wales Hospice, Pontefract
Hours: 36 hours per week (rota including nights and weekends)
Salary: £39,128 – £43,646 per annum (FTE)

EXPERIENCE
* Twelve months palliative care experience, worked at a senior level.
* Ward management skills and experience.
* Experience in leading and participating in multi professional team working.
* Research, audit and clinical governance awareness.
* Experience of participating in audits and staff development.
* Experience of teaching experience within the clinical setting.
KNOWLEDGE
* Research/evidence-based practice.
* Understand the need to establish and maintain a safe practice environment.
* Awareness of National guidelines and legislation relating to health and social care provision.
* Knowledge of risk assessment.
* Evidence of post graduate study.
QUALIFICATIONS/TRAINING
* Evidence of ongoing professional development.
* Post Graduate Certificate in End‑of‑Life Care or other relevant post registration.
* Qualification in Palliative care.
SKILLS/ABILITIES
* Clinically orientated in order to inspire, lead, develop and support the nursing team.
* Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
* Sound verbal and written communication skills.
* Able to facilitate and lead a team and to act as a positive role model.
