Pensions Team Manager (Band 5)

Job responsibilities
* Lead and support pensions activity across the organisation, ensuring deadlines and statutory requirements are met.
* Provide clear, compassionate advice to staff and managers on complex and sensitive pension matters.
* Ensure compliance with NHS Pension Scheme regulations, Auto Enrolment legislation and HMRC requirements.
* Use system knowledge to resolve complex queries, oversee data quality and support continuous improvement.
* Operate from either Castle Hill Hospital or Diana Princess of Wales Hospital, with regular travel between sites.
Required qualifications and experience
* Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C or above including English and Maths (or equivalent experience).
* CIPP qualified NVQ Level 5 in Pensions Administration or equivalent experience.
* Significant experience working within a Pensions or Payroll Department.
* Experience with integrated computerised Pensions/Payroll/HR systems.
* Advanced keyboard skills and competence in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and formulae).
* Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Pensions Regulations and associated legislation.
* Excellent numerical and analytical skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
* Ability to organise, prioritise and undertake work accurately and timely.
* Demonstrable knowledge of the NHS Pension Scheme and evidence of continued professional development.
Communication and interpersonal skills
* Excellent communication skills, able to explain technical pension issues to a range of people and levels.
* Confident and sensitive communication with staff at all levels.
* Strong interpersonal skills, able to work independently and as part of a team.
* Demonstrates understanding of confidentiality and participates in standard setting and research projects.
* Facilitates learning of others and shows evidence of continued professional development.
