Overview
Sewage Misuse Prevention Operative role at YTL Arena Bristol.
Travel across the Wessex Water region (including Bristol, Salisbury, Bournemouth, Bridgwater and surrounding areas) to help protect watercourses from pollution. This is a full-time, permanent role with salary details provided by the employer at the time of application.
Responsibilities
* Inspect surface water outfalls and sewers to identify misconnected drainage and verify the accuracy of records.
* Record and report misconnections and follow up with private property owners to ensure corrections are made.
* Maintain a strong focus on health and safety for yourself, colleagues, contractors and the public.
* Investigate reported incidents and work with third parties to address pollution or unauthorised discharges.
* Liaise with property owners to provide advice and complete paper/electronic forms to correct misconnections.
* Travel across the Wessex Water region as required and work as part of a team to achieve objectives.
What you'll need
* Confident, self-motivated, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
* Excellent public liaison skills and a positive work ethic to see tasks through to completion.
* Understanding of sewerage networks and drainage.
* Good IT knowledge, with experience using Microsoft Excel and Teams.
* Ability to think methodically and break down problems into workable steps.
* GCSEs at grades B or 6 in English and Maths.
* A can-do attitude and willingness to get stuck in.
* Ability to work around sewage and lift manholes safely; full PPE provided.
* Experience handling customer expectations and interactions.
* Valid driving licence is essential due to travel requirements; a company vehicle is provided.
