This is an exciting opportunity to be a Technical Instructor working across stroke (acute) and within the Community Neuro Rehab Team (CNRT) for Tameside & Glossop.
The Stroke Rehab Unit provides bed based rehabilitation, working towards patient specific goals, aiming to facilitate a return to the community.
CNRT provides therapy to patients that have had an acquired neurological diagnosis (such as stroke, Parkinson's, MS and brain injury). We offer community based assessment and treatments within a variety of settings including the home, group, clinic, or the wider community.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic Technical Instructor with experience in stroke/neurological rehabilitation to provide support to both services.
The individual will work alongside other multidisciplinary staff members to ensure high standards of service delivery for the patients of Tameside & Glossop.
As a member of an interdisciplinary team, you will understand the benefits to be gained from a team approach, where each team member’s contribution is valued and where experience is shared.
Responsibilities
* Provide holistic, integrated therapy to ward-based patients on the Stroke Rehab Unit (SRU) and in the community for the Community Neuro Rehab Team (CNRT).
* Understand the roles and responsibilities of multi-disciplinary staff members (physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, psychology, nursing).
* Work with indirect supervision, reporting back patient’s progress and informing therapists of any problems.
* Demonstrate effective communication skills when dealing with patients, relatives, carers, team staff and external agencies.
* Manage risks within the community setting as a lone worker.
