We are seeking a dedicated Special Needs Specialist for a long-term temporary position, starting October 2025 and continuing on an ongoing basis. Duties as a Special Needs Specialist: Provide tailored support to students with a range of special educational needs Develop and implement individual education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with teaching staff and parents Adapt learning materials and strategies to meet individual learning requirements Support the emotional, social, and academic development of students Work closely with the SENCO and external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for pupils Maintain accurate records of student progress and interventions Ideal Special Needs Specialist: Relevant qualifications in Special Educational Needs or equivalent experience Proven experience working within a PRU (Pupil Referral Unit) Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills Excellent communication and teamwork abilities Empathetic, patient, and resilient approach to supporting learners with complex needs Commitment to inclusive education and professional development Why Step Teachers?
