Overview
The Anaesthetic Department at the William Harvey Hospital (WHH) is recruiting a consultant to join our team of clinicians. The role provides surgical services for regional head and neck cancer, colorectal cancer and other specialties, including gynaecology, ENT, trauma surgery, breast, paediatrics and ophthalmology. There is also a 24-hour pPCI cardiology service. We are a regional level 2 trauma unit with a busy obstetric unit (approximately 4000 deliveries per year). Chronic pain, vascular and urology services are based at Kent and Canterbury Hospital. Most elective orthopaedic services are provided at the Elective Orthopaedic Centre in Canterbury, with opportunities to work across more than one hospital site. There is a well-established preassessment service, a newly built 24-bed intensive care unit, and the emergency department is undergoing refurbishment. The anaesthetic department supports education and research and provides multidisciplinary simulation training across the trust and region. The new Kent and Medway Medical School offers an opportunity to be involved in undergraduate education locally.
