Your new company
We are seeking a highly proactive Business Support Coordinator to provide high‑level PA and administrative support to a Director within a major business area of a local authority. This is a temporary 6‑month assignment with a strong likelihood of extension.This role requires someone with excellent organisational skills, proven coordination or PA experience, and the confidence to keep senior leaders fully informed of priorities, deadlines, and urgent actions. You will play a key role in enabling effective decision-making and ensuring smooth day‑to‑day operations.
Your new role
You will provide comprehensive PA-style support to the Director, acting as the central point of coordination for their day‑to‑day activities. A core part of the role involves proactively managing a busy inbox, ensuring that urgent matters are responded to promptly or escalated where necessary. You will also take responsibility for complex diary management, prioritising meetings and ensuring all preparation materials are organised in advance.
Clear communication is essential, as you will keep the Director fully informed of priority tasks, approaching deadlines, and required actions. The role also includes supporting meetings by coordinating agendas, capturing minutes, and following up on agreed actions. In addition, you'll liaise confidently with internal stakeholders, team members, and external partners to support smooth operations.
You will maintain accurate records, handle correspondence, and provide broader administrative support to the business area as needed, ensuring the overall efficiency of the Director's office.
What you'll need to succeed
We are looking for someone with proven experience in PA or coordinator roles, as this forms the foundation of the support required. You will be naturally proactive, able to anticipate needs and take action without waiting to be asked. Strong, clear communication is essential, particularly when engaging with senior stakeholders, as you will frequently be required to convey priorities, updates, and key information concisely.You will be highly organised with excellent attention to detail, capable of managing conflicting demands and working effectively under pressure. The role requires someone who is confident operating independently but also able to collaborate well within a wider team. While public sector or local authority experience would be an advantage, it is not essential.
