An opportunity has arisen in the council's ICT service to join our Data Team as a Technical Data Analyst/Engineer. You will work closely with stakeholders across the council to gather requirements, design data pipelines, and ensure the integrity and reliability of datasets. Key responsibilities include extracting and cleansing data from various sources, building and maintaining a robust data services platform, and supporting the Business Intelligence Service in developing dashboards and reports that clearly communicate insights to both technical and non-technical audiences. Additionally, you will contribute to data governance practices, uphold privacy and security standards, and promote data-driven approaches in policy development and operational improvements.
* Proactively develop and maintain a single integrated data repository using various data sources to enable analysts to access data and gain insights.

* Write technical design documents, develop complex queries, and ensure data quality and security through thorough checks.
* Model and champion the automation of data collection and reporting, supporting continuous improvement and transformation into data-driven, high-performing services.
* Provide technical support, advice, and guidance, maintaining strong relationships across council services and working collaboratively within the ICT team.
* The role requires an analytical mindset, proficiency in data tools and programming languages, and a collaborative problem-solving approach. Your work will influence service efficiency, resource allocation, and outcomes for local communities. Excellent communication skills are essential to effectively advise and support Service Heads.
* Proven experience in a similar role with a wide range of applications and stakeholders, with strong data manipulation skills using T-SQL or similar.
* Experience working with large, complex datasets from various database types (e.g., MSSQL, Oracle, POSTGRESQL).
