Join Ocean Housing as a Health & Safety ManagerLocation: Stennack House, St AustellHours: 37 per week (Mon-Fri)Salary: £52,540Contract: Permanent At Ocean Housing, we provide safe, secure, affordable homes for people across Cornwall. We are looking for an experienced Health & Safety Manager to lead, influence and strengthen our safety culture across the organisation. This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of health and safety strategy and delivery, working collaboratively across teams to ensure our colleagues, customers and contractors operate in the safest possible environments. Your Role: As our Health & Safety Manager, you’ll be the driving force behind safe working practices across Ocean Housing and its subsidiaries. Lead and embed a positive, proactive health & safety culture across the business. Ensure compliance with UK health & safety legislation, regulations and best practice. Identify risks and implement robust mitigation strategies and improvements. Conduct fire risk assessments across residential buildings (excluding high-risk buildings). Investigate incidents and drive preventative action and continuous improvement. Develop and deliver training, toolbox talks and safety communications across all levels. Produce insightful reports, dashboards and performance analysis to influence decision-making. Partner with key teams including Repairs, Compliance, Development and People Services. What we are looking for: We’re looking for a confident and capable professional with strong technical expertise and the ability to influence at all levels. Essential: NEBOSH Certificate and working towards Diploma. Qualified to conduct fire risk assessments in residential buildings. Proven experience in health & safety management, ideally within construction or housing. Strong working knowledge of UK legislation and CDM regulations. Experience of fire safety and conducting fire risk assessments. Experience with health & safety management systems (e.g. ISO45001). Ability to develop policies, risk assessments, and drive service improvements. Key skills: Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Strong problem solving and project management capability. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver to deadlines. Confident presenting, training and influencing others. A pragmatic, solutions-focused approach to safety. Ability to lead, coach and motivate others. Promote a no-blame, learning-focused culture.
