JOB TITLE: NPD Design Engineer – Bathrooms
LOCATION: Aylesford, Kent
WORKING HOURS: 8am – 4.30pm

We are seeking a proactive and detail‑oriented Design Engineer with a background in bathrooms, lighting or medical devices. Strong 3D modelling skills, particularly with SolidWorks, are essential, along with a proven track record of taking designs from concept to production. Exceptional problem‑solving abilities and clear, effective communication skills are crucial for collaborating with diverse stakeholders and ensuring project success. Key Responsibilities
* Work closely with functional teams to design innovative solutions that meet the specific needs of our bathroom lighting or medical devices categories
* Transform concept visuals into detailed designs, progressing through prototype stages to final production‑ready models
* Ensure designs are functional, durable, and aesthetically pleasing
* Produce accurate and detailed 3D models using SolidWorks to generate drawings for manufacture, prototype, and rendered images as required
* Utilise 3D printing and other prototyping methods to develop and test design concepts (knowledge of these technologies is useful but not essential)
* Maintain internal records in the product database
* Liaise with manufacturers and internal staff to ensure a smooth flow of product development and manage project issues as they arise
* Drive key new‑product projects forward to a given target date and budget
Requirements
* Qualified in industrial/product/furniture design at degree level or equivalent design‑engineering qualifications
* Experience working in a similar bathroom design engineer role
* Experience producing detailed drawings and designs for manufacture
* Good manufacturing knowledge in furniture or an equivalent industry
* Excellent technical and engineering experience
* Experience with CAD packages – SolidWorks (essential), Fusion 360 & Autodesk Inventor (advantageous)
* Excellent understanding of material properties and manufacturing processes
* Comfortable managing multiple projects and working to tight deadlines
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
