JOB TITLE: Product Technologist
Location: Greater London
Salary: up to £40,000 (with flexibility)
Are you passionate about product safety, quality, and ensuring that items used by families every day meet the highest standards? My client, a well-established supplier of products across the UK and Europe, is looking for a talented Quality & Compliance professional to join their growing team.
Reporting directly to the leadership team, this role plays a pivotal part in safeguarding the safety and compliance of a varied product portfolio, while also supporting exciting new product development initiatives. You’ll work closely with design and manufacturing partners, and internal teams to ensure products are safe, compliant, well-engineered, and ready for market.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee product safety, quality, and compliance for all items distributed, with a focus on plastics, printed products, and some textiles.
* Ensure all products meet UK and EU regulatory requirements.
* Determine and manage testing requirements; compile and review technical files; conduct risk assessments; and verify product specifications.
* Review artworks and packaging to ensure accuracy and compliance.
* Monitor in-market product performance and lead timely investigations and corrective actions where required.
* Manage product safety reporting, analysis, and continuous quality improvement processes.
* Introduce and enhance quality assurance tools throughout the product design and development process.
* Oversee inspection standards across factories, ensuring consistency and alignment with company quality expectations.
* Maintain and continuously develop the company’s quality manual in line with regulatory updates and customer requirements.
* Collaborate closely with design teams and have hands-on involvement across multiple licensed product projects.
About You
* Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar quality, product safety, or compliance role within consumer goods.
* A practical, detail-focused manager who thrives in fast-paced environments and can juggle multiple projects.
* A natural problem-solver with a proactive approach to improving systems, processes, and product performance.
* Engineering knowledge or experience is beneficial in understanding product design and manufacturing risks.
