Data Engineer (SC Cleared)
Salary : £55,000 to £65,000 plus benefits
Location : UK wide, preference for Manchester or Bristol (Not essential)
Working pattern : Hybrid, minimum 8 days per month on client site
Clearance : Active SC required
About the Role
A UK-based data and technology consultancy is expanding its delivery team on a defence programme. This role sits within a specialist data engineering function delivering secure, high-priority projects across national security and critical environments.
The focus is on building and operating robust data pipelines that directly support operational decision-making, analytics, and future AI use cases.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Designing and maintaining scalable data pipelines in secure environments
* Building and supporting ETL frameworks for ingesting, transforming, and validating data
* Working with large structured datasets to ensure data quality, accuracy, and availability
* Implementing data models and storage solutions across cloud platforms
* Optimising performance, reliability, and cost of data workflows
* Supporting data governance, standards, and compliance frameworks
* Working closely with customers across the full delivery lifecycle
What They’re Looking For
* Proven experience as a Data Engineer in complex or regulated environments
* Strong skills in Python and SQL
* Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
* Familiarity with modern data tooling such as Airflow, Spark, Snowflake, BigQuery or similar
* Understanding of data governance, quality, and secure data handling
* Ability to work autonomously and engage directly with stakeholders
Clearance Requirement
Applicants must hold active SC clearance, and have lived in the UK continuously for the last 5 years.
