The Assistant Head of Curriculum will play a key role in implementing College strategies, policies, and procedures related to Teaching and Learning, Curriculum and Curriculum Development, Quality assurance and Quality Improvement, and Commercial activities. The role involves extensive travel across Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion, flexibility in working hours, and collaboration across the UWTSD group, focusing on curriculum design and delivery.
This role also involves liaising and collaborating with key stakeholders and external contacts, with a focus on developing valuable partnerships. The postholder will support the College’s efforts to increase non-core income through various income-generating activities and will be involved in cost reduction initiatives without compromising quality.
Purpose
* Support the Head of Curriculum in leading Access and HE provision, ensuring a positive learning experience for all learners;
* Assist in achieving high standards in teaching and learning;
* Implement quality assurance and improvement processes;
* Plan, manage, and evaluate an effective, efficient, and financially sustainable curriculum that meets learners' needs and provides progression opportunities;
* Collaborate across the UWTSD group on curriculum design and delivery;
* Contribute to increasing income and reducing costs while maintaining quality.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
Essential Criteria:
* Degree/HND or equivalent
* Teaching qualifications
Experience:
* Curriculum management, including implementing new initiatives
* Curriculum development experience
* Partnership development with external agencies
* Experience in developing income-generating activities in education
Personal Attributes:
* Excellent communication, diplomacy, and tact
* Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
* Ability to lead geographically dispersed teams
* High integrity and confidentiality
* Ability to work harmoniously with senior colleagues
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
* Understanding of FE, HE, WBL, and 14-19 sectors
