Salary: £38,000 – £48,000 + Half-Yearly Performance Bonus
Location: Wilmslow (office‑based / hybrid after probation)
Hours: Full‑time, Mon – Fri, with one evening per week / late start per week for flexibility around customer consultations.

We’re now looking for an experienced Solar Design Consultant to strengthen the front end of our sales and design process.
The Role
You’ll act as the first technical point of contact for customers exploring solar and battery solutions. This is a senior, autonomous position: you’ll lead consultations, design systems end‑to‑end, explain technical choices, negotiate margins in plain English, and close projects independently. Working alongside Ian Pownall (Co‑Founder) and Claire (Customer Experience), you’ll own the relationship from enquiry to signed contract, handing over to the operations team once the system design and price are approved. This position is ideal for a seasoned professional who’s already comfortable explaining all aspects of a solar installation, designing and selling complete solar PV systems, and wants to grow with a modern, trusted renewable‑energy brand.
Key Responsibilities
* Run structured Zoom / phone consultations with homeowners, capturing goals, usage data and property details.
* Produce accurate first‑stage solar & battery designs and indicative costings using EasyPV.
* Recommend appropriate products across our range – panels, mounting systems (In‑roof, on‑roof and ground‑mounted solar), inverters and batteries (Tesla, Sigenergy, GivEnergy).
* Re‑design and refine proposals following technical surveys.
* Manage the consideration and sales process – check in with customers, encourage them through the pipeline, and maintain consistent communication until a decision is made.
* Confidently present final systems, justify design rationale, and close sales while maintaining margin.
* Maintain precise records and notes in HubSpot CRM.
* Collaborate with Claire (Admin) and the operations team to ensure a smooth handover.
* Contribute to the continual improvement of Apex Doma’s design playbooks and customer journey.
Required Experience & Competence
* Minimum 3 years’ proven experience designing and specifying residential/light commercial solar PV systems (roof‑mount & battery integration).
* Comfortable using EasyPV / OpenSolar or similar software.
* Strong understanding of electrical principles for solar and battery systems (including G98 / G99 thresholds and export limits).
* Track record of closing projects in a consultative sales environment – education‑first, not pressure‑based.
* Confident communicator capable of explaining complex concepts simply.
* Excellent attention to detail and self‑organisation; able to run multiple leads independently.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM systems (preferably HubSpot).
* Electrical qualification or engineering background preferred, but not essential.
* Base salary £38,000–£48,000, dependent on experience.
