We are seeking a talented Patient Access Representative to join our team at the Harbor Community Health Center-Plymouth.

Role:
The Patient Access Representative provides excellent customer service by greeting and assisting patients, registering new and existing patients, verifying appointments and insurance information, and scheduling follow-ups. The role involves assessing patient needs and ensuring they are met effectively.
Responsibilities:
* Accurately collects and records patient information, registers new patients, including walk-ins.
* Ensures all demographic and insurance data is current and accurate; enters data into the system.
* Verifies insurance information, documents payer details, and collects co-pays or payments according to policy.
* Answers calls courteously and directs them appropriately.
* Educates patients on payment options, insurance coverage, and assists with applications for assistance programs.
* Helps with appointment scheduling and rescheduling.
* Performs administrative duties such as sorting mail.
* Refers patients to Referral Coordinator as needed.
* Ensures accuracy of PCP and obtains referrals and insurance documentation as required.
Requirements:
* High school diploma or GED.
* At least 1 year of experience in a community health or professional environment; 3+ years preferred.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Strong customer service, organizational, problem-solving, and prioritization skills.
* Basic math and reading comprehension skills.
* Basic computer skills; familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 preferred, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams; experience with EPIC/OCHIN is a plus.
* Bilingual abilities in English/Portuguese or English/Spanish are preferred.
* Familiarity with medical terminology is a plus.
