Overview
Are you ready to put your science degree to work in a role where you’ll get hands-on experience, contribute to exciting projects, and grow your career with a global leader?
At Saint-Gobain Exterior Solutions (SGES), we’re looking for a Development Chemist to join our R&D team in Kilwaughter. This is your chance to be part of a team that develops innovative products shaping the future of construction – from advanced renders to cutting-edge coatings.
Responsibilities
* Work closely with experienced chemists to support new product development and improvements.
* Get involved in taking ideas from the lab right through to full-scale production.
* Assist with customer technical support, data preparation, and product approvals.
* Learn how to run lab projects, analyse results, and present your findings.
* Gain exposure at trade shows, trials, and cross-functional meetings.
No two days will be the same – you’ll balance lab work, problem-solving, and real-world application.
Qualifications
* A BSc (or higher) in a scientific discipline – ideally with a focus on materials science.
* A keen interest in research, product development, and problem-solving.
* Confidence with data (Excel skills a plus!) and a willingness to learn new tools.
* Strong communication skills and a collaborative spirit.
* Flexibility and a can-do attitude – sometimes things move fast, and that’s part of the fun.
A driving licence and willingness to travel occasionally will also help you make the most of this role.
Benefits and opportunities
* Grow your career – you’ll gain practical experience, mentorship, and training with a global organisation.
* Be part of innovation – your ideas and input will help shape products used worldwide.
* Inclusive culture – at Saint-Gobain, we celebrate diversity and welcome your unique perspective.
* Flexibility – we understand everyone has different needs, and we’re open to discussing ways of working that suit you.
