Anexciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated paediatrician(ST4 or above) with an interest in Paediatric Diabetes to join Leeds TeachingHospitals NHS Trust, Childrens Hospital, as a Paediatric Diabetes Fellow for aperiod of 12 months commencing September 2024.
Thispost would be suitable for a trainee requesting an Out of Programme Pause fromtraining who would like to train in the care of children and young people withdiabetes
Main duties of the job
ThePaediatric Diabetes Fellows role will include:
Clinical management of inpatients with diabetes, both newly diagnosed and withknown diabetes
Out-patient diabetes clinics alongside the multi-disciplinary team. Thissuccessful applicant will become proficient in the use of all aspects ofdiabetes related technologies including hybrid closed loops.
Attendance at multi-disciplinary team meetings (twice weekly), includingmonthly quality assurance and improvement meeting.
Participation in a diabetes quality improvement project with the MDT
Support diabetes education for ward staff aswell as medical, nursing, dietetic, psychology and play students
Participate in and contribute to departmental education sessions Support diabetes-basedresearch
On call commitment in General Paediatrics

Ideallyapplicants would also have:
GIC and be an instructor on APLS
Thisis a fixed-term role for 12 months. The role would be undertaken out oftraining (if applicable) and therefore this post will extend the traineescompletion of training (CCT) date if in a training programme. This should bediscussed with the trainees educational supervisor and training programmedirector.

10. Demonstrates knowledge of evidence-informed practice
Eligibility, Fitness to practice, and Language Skills

11. Be eligible for full registration with, and hold a current licence to practise from, the GMC at intended start date
12. Eligibility to work in the UK.
13. Advanced Paediatric Life Support Certificate from the Resuscitation Council UK or equivalent
14. Is up to date and fit to practise safely and is aware of own training needs.
15. At least 4 years experience in paediatrics by the time of intended start date
