The Zero Carbon Oxfordshire Partnership (ZCOP) is a pioneering collaboration of major organisations committed to achieving net zero carbon emissions across Oxfordshire by 2040. We bring together the largest names in the county, covering local government, businesses, universities, health institutions, and community groups – working collectively to accelerate climate action at the scale and speed required.
By joining the ZCOP team, you will be part of a passionate group of individuals who are making a tangible difference in creating a greener, more sustainable future for Oxfordshire and beyond. The role is hosted by Oxford City Council, a local authority recognised nationally for its climate leadership by the MJ awards.
You will work closely with other participating local authorities: Cherwell District Council, West Oxfordshire District Council, and Oxfordshire County Council.
Oxfordshire performs impressively on climate nationally, at both the district and county council levels. In the latest Climate Emergency UK scorecards, four of the five district or city councils rank in the top 10, and Oxfordshire County Council is number one on the county list.
This is a key moment for the partnership, as we continue to expand and deepen our work across Oxfordshire—strengthening connections, unlocking collective influence, and supporting delivery on the ground. You’ll be central to this evolution: helping shape the next phase of the partnership’s strategy and action.
We’re looking for someone who can build strong relationships, drive collaboration, and catalyse community-led and institutional action—someone passionate about making change happen through collective effort as the partnership seeks to:
* Build a county-wide Partnership: attracting more public, private, and third sector organisations to join us in driving positive collaboration.
* Accelerate action: to tackle new and complex issues by convening expert stakeholders around specific challenges.
* Inspire and engage: to showcase more of the positive actions being delivered to help build a movement that everyone who lives, works, or studies can feel part of, while continuing to learn from best practice in other UK and international areas.
* Further enable our partners to accelerate their emissions reductions by sharing practical experience and insights with each other.
* Shape our work plan: to ensure the next 5-year plan is inclusive, ambitious, and practical, setting a clear path for both the partnership.
