Contract: Full-Time Long-Term (Monday-Friday), starting in September
Hours: 8:15am - 3:15pm
Salary: £154.05 - £232.80 per day (DOE)

Role Overview
We are recruiting a Long Term English Teacher to support a secondary school in Stroud. You will plan and deliver engaging English lessons to KS3 and KS4 students, helping them develop confidence in reading, writing, analysis, and communication while maintaining a focused and inclusive classroom environment.
This role is ideal for a qualified English teacher seeking a long-term post where they can build strong relationships with students and staff, contribute to pupil progress, and bring creativity and structure to the English curriculum.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver engaging English lessons in line with the national curriculum and department schemes of work
* Support students in developing reading, writing, speaking, and analytical skills across KS3 and KS4
* Assess classwork and homework, provide clear feedback, and monitor student progress effectively
* Manage behaviour in line with school policies and create a calm, purposeful learning environment
* Work collaboratively with the English department and wider school team to support attainment and engagement
Skills Required
* Strong classroom management skills and the ability to build positive routines over time
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage students with a broad range of texts and themes
* Confidence in teaching grammar, writing techniques, literature, and reading comprehension
* Ability to adapt teaching to meet the needs of mixed-ability learners and support exam preparation
Qualifications & Experience
* Experience teaching English to secondary-aged students across KS3 and KS4
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in English (essential)
* Strong understanding of the English curriculum, assessment objectives, and effective classroom practice
* Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
