We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, motivated and compassionate Senior PE Teaching Assistant to provide a high standard of support to our Head of PE and students. Ideally you will have experience of working in an SEN setting previously, be highly organised and have a clear vision of how to maximise the fantastic facilities we have available.

Under the direction of the Head of PE, the Senior PE Teaching Assistant will take responsibility for supporting staff in the organisation of the day to day running of the PE department in the absence of the Head of Department.
Main Duties include but not exclusive are:
* To take a lead role in coordinating the organisation and management of a safe and purposeful learning environment. Support the Head of Department, to develop teaching and learning within the PE environment.
* Assist in the monitoring and evaluation of student’s responses to learning tasks and participation in PE activities through questionnaires and discussion.
* Work with the teacher or Head of Department to plan the week’s schedule by reviewing activities, events and staffing.
* Work with the Head of Department to further develop and adapt the extra-curricular opportunities
* Be a qualified First Aider and Lifeguard (or be willing to be trained) and take responsibility and appropriate action as necessary.
* Prepare and use specialist resources to support the students and contribute to the selection and preparation of teaching resources, including IT that meets the diversity of students’ needs and interests.
* Seek to develop with the Head of Department a system to promote and reinforcement the students’ self-esteem, appropriate levels of effort and behaviour and to guide students to become independent learners.
