Senior Accountant (Costing & Analytics) – NHS Borders

This post offers an exciting opportunity for a qualified/final stage (CCAB/CIMA) with a specialist interest in costing to develop and implement the Health Board’s approach to patient-level costing and finance analytics.
About the Role
You will work closely with Finance Business Partners, Clinicians, Service Management and other support functions to develop a new costing model which links patient activity to costs, and to report on the outputs of this costing model.
Working with the Senior Finance Manager you will help modernise the directorate’s approach to business analytics and support quality improvement within the directorate, including review of how information is gathered, stored and utilised.
You will be responsible for preparing annual costing returns which report on the Board’s costs and activity and will take a lead on financial benchmarking, comparing the costs of NHS Borders with other similar healthcare organisations.
What we are looking for
We are looking for an individual with a desire to influence how health services are delivered by working collaboratively with clinicians to understand and model the costs and activities of patient level treatment and service delivery.
You will have a previous experience in managing complex financial and non-financial data together with a high level of IT literacy and a strong understanding of cost accounting and business analytics.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a collaborative approach to working with stakeholders to improve the use of data analysis to drive decision-making.
Other Relevant Information
This post is suitable for hybrid working. The main base(s) of work will be at Newstead and Borders General Hospital, Scottish Borders, applicants will be expected to work on site at least 1 day per week.
