Family Court Adviser (Children's Social Worker) – CAFCASS – West Midlands
CAFCASS (Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service) urgently seeks experienced Children's Social Workers to join as Family Court Advisers across Birmingham, Stafford, Stoke and Worcester.
About the Role
You will work within Private and/or Public Law teams, supporting children and families involved in court proceedings. This role is ideal for social workers with expertise in Section 7 report writing, child‑focused assessments and family court advocacy.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct child‑focused assessments and engage with children to represent their views in court.
* Prepare high‑quality Section 7 reports and other statutory documentation for Family Court proceedings.
* Apply robust risk assessment and mediation skills to advocate for arrangements prioritising children's welfare.
* Manage a caseload independently, ensuring timely and effective delivery of services.
* Collaborate with legal professionals, local authorities and multi‑agency teams to deliver child‑centred outcomes.
Essential Requirements
* Recognised Social Work qualification (Degree or equivalent).
* Current Social Work England registration.
* Minimum 3 years post‑qualified experience in children and families social work.
* Strong knowledge of Family Court processes, including Section 7 report writing.
* Experience in Private and/or Public Law proceedings is advantageous.
* Organised, resilient and able to work autonomously while managing deadlines.
* Excellent communication, assessment and case management skills.
