Dynamic and fast paced growing business based in Stockport, who prides itself with its employee care and its people-first culture are seeking a Standalone Purchase Ledger/Finance Assistant to join its busy, fast paced finance family! Working as part of a small finance function you will be reportable to the Finance lead and take full ownership of the Purchase Ledger function.
Your new role
This is a standalone Purchase Ledger role responsible for the accurate and timely processing of supplier invoices, payments, and reconciliations. The post-holder will deliver high levels of accuracy and provide excellent internal support across the business.Key Responsibilities:-
1. Manually process all supplier invoices and liaise with overseas suppliers.
2. Match delivery notes to invoices, verify pricing, and obtain relevant approvals.
3. Post authorised invoices and credit notes into Sage 200.
4. Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.
5. Prepare weekly and monthly supplier payment runs.
6. Process and reconcilepany credit card expenses.
7. Reconcile USD and Euro bank accounts.
8. Collate and verify shipping documents for imports.
9. File monthly VAT certificates.
10. Produce ad‑hoc reports and management information as required.
11. Provide general support across the finance function.
Credit Control Cover (Occasional when required)
12. Contact customers relating to overdue monies/accounts
13. Allocate
14. Check and authorise orders exceeding credit limits.
15. Reconcile bank statements.
16. Provide flexible cover and support to other business areas
Other occasional duties
17. Provide wider finance team support during busy periods or absence.
What you'll need to succeed
18. Purchase ledger/Finance experience
19. Previous adhoc credit control duties
20. Proven ability to identify and implement process improvements.
21. Strong written and verbalmunication, with excellent attention to detail.
22. Strong IT skills, including confident use of finance systems.
23. Able to work under pressure and adapt to change.
24. A collaborative team player who builds strong working relationships.
25. Highly organised, with the ability to manage workloads independently.
26. Proactive, resourceful, and confident using initiative.
27. Effective time‑management and prioritisation skills.
28. Positive attitude andfortable managingpeting priorities.
