Temporary Home Fire Safety Advisor – Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service
Location: The centre of duty will be Salisbury Fire Station. There is a requirement to travel daily around South East Wiltshire.

* The role of Home Fire Safety Advisor could be for you.
Home Fire Safety Advisors work within the Prevention Department. Our aim is to reduce fire risk in people’s homes, especially those most vulnerable, such as the elderly, or those with health concerns.
You will learn how to identify fire risks, such as overloaded electrics, unsafe cooking and offer advice on how people can stay safer from fire. You will also install detection equipment such as smoke detectors and specialist deaf alert equipment. Use data systems such as Microsoft Office to record data on a tablet and smart phone.
You must have excellent people skills, adapting your style to ensure all people have the same high standard of advice and support. You will also work closely with partner agencies such as social services, mental health teams and GP Surgeries.

Closing and Interview date: The closing date for applications is Sunday 2 November 2025 (midnight). It is intended that interviews will take place on Thursday 20 November 2025 and Tuesday 25 November 2025. Should you be shortlisted for interview, further details regarding the interview format / location will be provided before the interview date.
Other Information:
* You must have a full current driving licence and be able to fulfil the significant travel requirements of the role. Use of your own vehicle will be required; however, a Service vehicle may be available. Please note Service vehicles are manual transmission only. The role has a significant travel requirement across the Service area. If you are unable to drive due to a disability, we would still welcome your application and will explore any reasonable adjustments that could be put in place.
* There is a rigorous selection process and the identity of the successful candidate will be checked thoroughly, including an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service Check (DBS) clearance for this role prior to offer of employment.
* Any offer of employment will be subject to full pre-employment checks which include identity checks, right to work in the UK, medical, negative drug test, receipt of satisfactory references, verification of employment history and an explanation of any gaps in employment in the last 5 years. We are required to obtain references for your full 5 year employment history so we may need to ask you to provide additional referees.
* Upon appointment you will be required to adhere to the requirements of a Health Surveillance Programme and attend an Occupational health appointment for baseline readings.
Salary: £31,537 - £33,143 per annum (rising by annual increments to £33,143)
