Job Summary
Whittington Health has significantly improved emergency departmental performance and is focusing on integrated care with UCLH and local partners. The Chief Medical Officer will lead the Trust’s clinical and organisational strategy, serve on the Board of Directors, and partner with nursing and patient experience leaders to enhance clinical performance and quality of patient care.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as a member of the Board of Directors and carry out statutory responsibilities as an executive director.
* Ensure organisational compliance with Responsible Officer regulations and quality assurance standards.
* Develop and implement medical workforce planning strategies.
* Lead clinical strategy development, service and clinical policy, including national initiatives and NICE directives.
* Partner with Chief Operating Officer and Chief Nursing Officer to drive productivity and quality objectives.
* Oversee conduct, capability, and competence of medical staff; manage performance and improvement reviews.
* Maintain strategic relationships with GPs, Clinical Commissioning Groups, education commissioners, and partners such as UCL.
* Ensure ongoing review of consultant job plans and optimise clinical care delivery.
Qualifications & Experience
* A qualified and registered Medical Professional.
* High level of personal integrity and leadership competency.
* Demonstrated experience in strategic medical leadership within a hospital or integrated care setting.
* Experience managing medical workforce planning and quality improvement initiatives.
Desirable
* Master’s degree or equivalent postgraduate management/leadership qualification.
