Job Details * Job Title: Senior Lawyer (SEN) * Directorate: Community Care and Litigation * Location: Northampton, Huntingdon, or Shefford Hybrid – 2 office days/week (Can be flexible) * Assignment Type: Locum * Rate: £55 – £60 per hour * Working Hours: Full-time (37 hours per week) * Line Management Responsibilities: None * Reports to: Principal Lawyer (Litigation) * Practice Area: Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Education Law Roles & Responsibilities * Deliver legal services on complex SEN and general education matters to public and non-profit clients. * Manage a caseload primarily involving SEN Tribunal cases with minimal supervision. * Conduct advocacy at SEN Tribunal hearings; instruct counsel where needed. * Provide legal advice, case preparation, and represent clients in tribunal or court settings. * Lead client meetings and maintain high service standards through direct engagement. * Draft legal documents, liaise with witnesses and experts, and conduct research. * Train and advise clients on legal topics and skills relevant to SEN law. * Ensure compliance with legal risk management and regulatory standards (e.g., SRA, Lexcel). * Support relationship-building with clients and stakeholders across partner organisations. * Mentor and support team colleagues as needed. * Perform duties in line with evolving business needs and organisational goals
