Experience within the insurance domain is advantageous, particularly working with complex, large-scale datasets.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines using AWS technologies
* Develop and optimise ETL/ELT processes for high-volume data ingestion and transformation
* Work with both structured and unstructured data, ensuring quality, integrity, and consistency
* Architect and implement data lake and data warehouse solutions on AWS
* Develop data marts using dimensional modelling techniques (star and snowflake schemas)
* Collaborate with analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into solutions
* Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise pipelines for performance and cost efficiency
* Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform
* Support CI/CD and DevOps practices (including Azure DevOps)
* Ensure adherence to data governance, security, and compliance standards
* Document data architecture, pipelines, and best practices
Skills & Experience Required
* Extensive experience in Data Engineering, with strong hands-on expertise in AWS
* Proven track record designing and delivering data lake and data warehouse solutions
* Strong technical skills in SQL, Python, and Spark
* Deep experience with core AWS services such as:
* S3, Lambda, Glue, Redshift, Athena, Step Functions, EventBridge, SQS, SNS, IAM, CloudWatch, and VPC
* Solid understanding of dimensional modelling and data mart design
* Experience with Terraform for infrastructure automation
* Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools (e.g. Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines)
* Experience with version control systems such as Git
* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
* AWS certifications (e.g. Solutions Architect, Data Engineer, DevOps Engineer)
* Experience in consulting or client-facing environments
Salary & Benefits
* £70,000 – £90,000 base salary (depending on experience)
