Support Officer / Supported Housing Assistant
We are seeking an experienced Support Officer / Supported Housing Assistant with a background in customer-facing roles supporting asylum seekers and/or young people, along with excellent communication skills, to join our team at A2Dominion.
FULL TRAINING PROVIDED
Experience in this sector is not mandatory, as the company values transferable skills and provides comprehensive training.
SALARY: £25,148 - £26,472 per annum + Generous Benefits (see below)
LOCATION: Oxford, Oxfordshire (OX4) – Office presence required
JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent
WORKING HOURS: 35 Hours per Week, Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm
PLEASE NOTE: You must have a Full Driving Licence and your own vehicle
Job Overview
This role involves supporting Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC) and Care Leavers in their transition to independence, including moving from supported housing to independent living within the community.
Key Duties
* Develop personalized support plans with young people, setting clear tasks and objectives
* Review and update support plans regularly to ensure progress
* Identify potential risks to young people's safety and wellbeing
* Create and maintain risk assessments, updating as needed
* Assist young people in managing their transition to independent living
* Attend case conferences, safeguarding meetings, and other relevant gatherings
* Ensure accurate documentation and timely record-keeping
* Maintain high standards of data integrity and confidentiality
* Promote responsibility and self-sufficiency among clients
* Adhere to internal policies and report maintenance issues promptly
* Follow lone working procedures for safety in non-office settings
Candidate Requirements
* Educated to GCSE level or equivalent in Maths and English
* Experience in supporting diverse client groups
* Knowledge of supporting independence
* Housing or support-related qualification
* Ability to work independently
* Strong networking and relationship-building skills
* Organizational and time management skills
* Effective communication skills at various levels
* Proficiency in IT and management information systems
* Ability to handle distressed or aggressive clients
* Driving Licence and own transport
