Prospero Teaching are recruiting a passionate and committed KS3/4 English Teacher to support secondary schools across the Birkenhead area from February. This is an excellent opportunity for an English specialist who enjoys teaching GCSE English Language and Literature and supporting pupils through a crucial stage of their secondary education.
The role
As a KS4 English Teacher, you will plan and deliver engaging, well-structured English lessons that develop pupils’ reading, writing, and analytical skills. You’ll work closely with the English department and pastoral teams to ensure pupils are supported academically and emotionally, particularly as they prepare for GCSE assessments. Schools are looking for confident classroom practitioners who can maintain high standards while building positive relationships with students.
Responsibilities
7. Planning and delivering high-quality English lessons across KS3/4
8. Teaching GCSE English Language and/or English Literature
9. Preparing pupils for exams through effective revision and assessment
10. Tracking, assessing and reporting on pupil progress
11. Creating a positive, focused and inclusive classroom environment
12. Managing behaviour in line with school policies
13. Working collaboratively with subject colleagues and pastoral teams

The ideal candidate
18. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential
19. Experience teaching English at KS3/4 (GCSE level)
20. Confident, enthusiastic and able to motivate learners
21. Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
22. Reliable, proactive and committed to high teaching standards
23. Good understanding of safeguarding and secondary school policies
