Alecto Recruitment is partnering with a rapidly expanding company within the Anaerobic Digestion sector that is seeking an experienced SHEQ Manager to drive a positive safety culture across construction and operational Biomethane assets in the UK.

Role and Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a standardised Safety Management System across multiple sites
Conduct risk assessments, site inspections, and incident investigations
Monitor HSE performance, drive continuous improvement, and report KPIs to senior management
Lead incident investigations, identify root causes, and share lessons learned to prevent recurrence
Engage with regulators and emergency services to ensure compliance and effective response planning
Stay ahead of regulatory changes and ensure timely implementation across the group
Act as a visible champion of safety culture, aligned with company vision and values
Lead on Environmental Permits and PAS110 Accreditation, ensuring full EA compliance
Maintain waste management, duty-of-care, and environmental records
Manage internal and external audits across all sites
Oversee each site's Environmental Management System and propose improvements proactively
Work towards an integrated management system covering ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001
Lead, motivate, and develop operational teams and contractors
Ensure lessons learned are communicated and shared across all sites
Support SHEQ training plans and competency assessments
Build positive relationships with the HSE, Environment Agency, and local Fire Authorities
Deliver inductions and coaching to embed a proactive, safety-first culture at every level.
Skills and Qualifications:
Experience working in anaerobic digestion or a similar industrial/processing environment
3-5 years in SHEQ management, ideally within construction, manufacturing, or a comparable sector
Familiarity with on-call operations and lone working requirements
Sound knowledge of environmental permitting and regulatory compliance
WAMITAB or COTC qualification required
A collaborative team player with the ability to work effectively across all levels
Strong working knowledge of health & safety legislation including PUWER, LOLER, COSHH, and DSEAR
Experience managing contractors, including RAMS, PTW, contractor approval, and insurance requirements
Calm under pressure with strong problem-solving skills during incidents or non-compliances
A track record of coaching staff, monitoring performance, and leading incident investigations
Experience managing HSE across multiple operational sites
NEBOSH qualification or equivalent required
