The Team
British Gas Business is continuing its investment in Data & Analytics by creating a new Data Strategy and Governance Team. This team will be pivotal in managing data as a strategic asset across the organisation, supporting growth ambitions, and driving innovation in Data & AI products. Our bold ambition is to set industry standards for excellence in data governance and quality, and to help Centrica achieve its 2030 strategic goals. We work in a hybrid, Flexible First way and typically you will work from home with visits to a Centrica office as required for team catch ups and meetings.
The Job
British Gas Business is looking for a dedicated Data Governance Analyst to support the implementation and maintenance of data governance policies and practices. You’ll work closely with the Governance Manager to embed governance principles across the organisation and ensure data assets are properly governed.
Key responsibilities
* Policy Implementation: Assist in the implementation and enforcement of data governance policies, standards, and procedures.
* Compliance Monitoring: Monitor compliance with data governance policies and regulatory requirements.
* Data Stewardship: Promote data stewardship and best practices within the organisation.
* Leverage Technology: Use technology to support policy implementation and compliance monitoring.
* Issue Resolution: Identify and resolve data governance issues and discrepancies.
* Documentation: Maintain and update documentation of data governance processes and standards.
* Collaboration: Work with business stakeholders and distributed Data Stewards to support data governance initiatives.
* Training and Awareness: Assist in developing and delivering training programs to enhance data governance awareness and skills.
What we’re looking for
* Experience in Data Governance or a related field.
* Comprehensive understanding of Data Governance frameworks and best practices.
* Proficiency with Data Governance tools and technologies.
* Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to Data Governance (e.g., GDPR).
* Experience working within data communities and technical environments.
* Proven ability to drive adoption of Data Governance/management frameworks.
* Strong understanding of data governance, data management, and data quality principles.
* Awareness of regulatory compliance and data stewardship best practices.
* Basic experience in Data Mapping and Data Management.
