Overview
We are looking to appoint a positive, flexible and professional 1:1 Support Assistant to join our established and dedicated team for September 2025. The role will involve 1:1 support for children across KS2 with complex social, emotional and behavioural needs in the classroom setting. It would be an advantage if the successful candidate has previous SEND support experience although relevant training and support will be given.
Personal attributes
The successful candidate will be supporting pupils with social, emotional and behavioural needs, on a one to one basis. Our Learning Support Assistants work flexibly to support a range of children and work in close partnership with the class teachers, as well as under overall direction of the SENCO.
Qualifications, previous school experience and/or experience of SEN is essential.
We are looking for someone who:
• has a good understanding of child development and experience of supporting young children in a school or pre-school setting (essential)
• relates well to both children and adults and has excellent interpersonal skills
• knowledge of de-escalation strategies
• is able to demonstrate an ability to nurture children in accordance with their individual emotional, social and learning needs
• is caring, calm and patient
• is able to work effectively with children either individually and in small groups to enable them to achieve their best
• enjoys working independently, with initiative and flexibility
• is proactive and resourceful
• is highly organised and has good time management skills
• is able to work as a part of a team, learning with and from other colleagues
• demonstrates good English and Mathematics skills
• is able to provide written and verbal feedback to the class teacher as required
• understands confidentiality and safeguarding procedures
• has a good sense of humour!
Contract/Hours: Temporary, Part time 31 hours 15 mins
Salary Details: Pay Grade B or C depending on experience – Actual £17,358-£18,372 (FTE £24,027-£25,430)
