Head of Public Law / Experienced Solicitor

A well-established law firm with a strong South Wales presence is seeking an experienced Public / Administrative Law Solicitor to lead its Public Law team. This is a senior role suited to a solicitor who wants to work on high-quality public law matters without stepping away from the region, combining technical excellence with leadership responsibility.
The Role
The Public Law team undertakes a wide range of public and administrative law work across Wales and England, acting for both individuals and organisations. Matters include:
Education
Social care
Public service change and closure
Inquests and public inquiries
Judicial review proceedings, including matters before the High Court
You’ll have genuine input into the strategic direction of the department, while remaining closely involved in complex casework.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and develop a specialist Public Law team based in South Wales
Manage complex public law and judicial review matters
Ensure compliance with Legal Aid Agency and Lexcel requirements
Support business development, profile-raising, and sustainable growth
Maintain consistently high standards of client care
