Main duties of the job
This is a senior physiotherapist post requiring significant postgraduate experience.
The post holder will be responsible for rapid response, advanced assessment and treatment of complex and /or chronic presentations and will provide highly specialist advice for patients within the hospital and community setting and teaching and training to therapy colleagues working in other clinical areas, and members of the multi‑disciplinary team.
The post holder will be responsible for supervision and training of other therapy staff including rotational band 5 staff, therapy assistants and students.
The post holder will also undertake a coordinating role in the delivery of the therapy service within their specific clinical area on a day‑to‑day basis and this will include the provision of a 7‑day therapy service in our clinical specialities.
Qualifications & Education
* Degree/Diploma in Physiotherapy
* HCPC registered
* Clinical education training
Knowledge and Training
* Significant postgraduate experience in a clinical area relevant to the post
* Evidence of postgraduate training in a specialist clinical area
* Have an understanding of developments within the NHS and the Trust, and their implication on Physiotherapy
* Knowledge of evidence based practice
* Other responsibilities e.g. HASAW rep, trade union rep/steward
Experience
* Clinical experience at band 5 in core areas of respiratory, musculoskeletal, neurology and orthopaedics
Communication & Relationship Skills
* Demonstrates the ability to teach, guide and direct therapy assistants and students in clinical practice
* Flexible working to meet the need of the service
* Demonstrates the ability to effectively communicate, both written and orally, in a clear and logical manner including good standard of documentation in application

* Demonstrates evidence of clinical reasoning in the management of patient care
* Demonstrates evidence of the ability to use reflective practice as a tool for growth and development
* Evidence of self‑directed learning

* To have the physical ability to carry out the necessary therapeutic handling and highly developed dexterity and coordination for assessment and manual treatments
