Mental Health Assistant - Oxford
We are looking for a compassionate, resilient, and dedicated Mental Health Assistant to join our specialist team supporting children with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs in a nurturing and structured school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide daily emotional and mental health support to pupils aged 3-11 with complex SEMH needs.
Build trusting relationships with children to help them feel safe, valued, and understood.
Support individual pupils in regulating emotions and managing behaviours in and out of the classroom.
Assist teaching and therapy staff in delivering tailored strategies and interventions.
Act as a positive role model, promoting wellbeing, resilience, and appropriate social interaction.
Monitor pupil wellbeing and report changes or concerns to the appropriate safeguarding or pastoral leads.
Help create and maintain a calm, predictable, and therapeutic learning environment.
What We're Looking For:
A caring, patient, and empathetic individual with a genuine passion for supporting children's mental health.
Experience working with children with SEMH needs, autism, trauma, or behavioural challenges (preferred).
Understanding of child development, emotional regulation, and attachment-informed practice.
