The Company PowerPhotonic has an exciting new opportunity for a Management Accountant based in Dalgety Bay, Fife. This position has been created during an exciting period of growth for the company. Powerphotonic is a global leader in the design and manufacture of precision micro-optics for laser systems used in the high energy scientific, defense, materials processing, medical, and optical communications sectors. PowerPhotonic was founded with the objective of achieving excellence in all aspects of the realization of micro-optic products for the most challenging laser applications. The Role As Management Accountant, you will be at the forefront of preparing management accounts and reporting, developing and preparing modelling for analysis to assist the business in decision-making. You will contribute to the production of monthly management packs as well as preparation of cash forecasting, assisting with the preparation of the annual budget and periodic re-forecasts. This is a newly created position that will help support the Head of Finance. Other Duties Costing: Review of product margins. Maintaining Cost Rates. Reviewing, investigating, and reporting on manufacturing variances. Inventory: Stock Reconciliation. Reviewing Stock Counts. Calculating Stock Provisions. Stock wastage review and reporting. CAPEX: Ownership of the Fixed Asset Register, posting of amortisation and depreciation. Preparation of capital expenditure proposals for major projects for review by the Board. Accounts Payable: Assisting with the posting of purchase invoices. Reconciliation of supplier statements. Reviewing of goods received not invoiced. Intercompany Accounting: Reconciliation of intercompany transactions. Participating in the generation of consolidated accounts. Grant Income: Preparation of grant applications. Preparation and submission of grant claims. R&D Tax: Preparation of R&D Tax Credit claim & agreement with tax advisers ERP: Being a super user of NAV, able to assist in resolving any issues as they arise. Assisting in the scoping and implementation of changes to support continual system improvement. Statutory Accounts and Audit: Participating in the year-end close and the preparation and audit of the statutory accounts. Including the preparation of audit schedules, managing, and resolving audit queries. Qualifications Ideally suited to a qualified or part qualified professional looking to expand their experience Qualifications (AAT/ACCA/CIMA) Experience A minimum of 2 years practical finance experience in a similar role. Previous experience in accounting in a manufacturing environment, incl. familiarity with standard costing, project costing and variance analysis. Previous experience of end-to-end management accounts preparation and working on group accounts including intercompany transactions and consolidations. Previous experience trading internationally and a basic understanding of FX accounting issues. Experience working with auditors and preparation of statutory accounts Interaction externally to the business with customers, suppliers, banks, outsourced payroll providers, pensions advisers, auditors and other third parties Previous experience with ERP systems Previous experience using Microsoft NAV and Jet Reports is prefer Personal Attributes Flexible approach to work and comfortable operating in a small and fast-paced company environment, responsive and adaptable to changing requirements and priorities. Able to plan and prioritise work independently and be confident flagging and escalate issues. Highly numerate with good attention to detail and IT literate to intermediate/ advanced use of Excel Appreciation and understanding of confidentiality requirements in dealing with commercial sensitive data and information. Proactive self-starter, with solutions and an improvement-focused approach to problem-solving. Strong communicator, tenacious, resilient, good team player.
