Catering Supervisor - NHS (Newcastle upon Tyne) Location: Trust‑wide (RVI & Freeman) - Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Pay Band: 3 Contract Type Temporary ongoing with Blue Arrow Opportunity to become permanent after 12 weeks Pay Rates Monday-Friday: £13.60 per hour Saturday: £17.22 per hour Sunday: £21.55 per hour Role Overview A hands‑on supervisory position responsible for leading a catering shift within a hospital environment. The role focuses on food production and service, food hygiene and safety standards, quality control, and staff supervision. Key Responsibilities Supervise catering staff during shifts Prepare, cook, plate, and serve meals to patients Maintain high standards of food hygiene, HACCP, and Health & Safety Manage staff rotas and cover staffing issues Monitor stock levels and reduce food waste Ensure a clean, professional, and safe working environment Essential Requirements NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds 706/2 in Food Preparation Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to complete within 4 weeks) Basic IT skills (Word and Excel) Strong communication and leadership skills Ability to work under pressure in a hot environment Reliable, flexible, and customer‑focused Desirable (Not Essential) Experience in large‑scale catering Knowledge of HACCP and allergen awareness Previous supervisory or management experience Why Apply?
