Our client is a leading independent research firm known for its data-driven, tactical approach to global markets. Their work sits at the intersection of macro, positioning, and equity strategy, with a strong emphasis on translating investor behaviour and flow dynamics into actionable investment insight.
They are seeking an Equity Strategist to join their London office, where the majority of the global team is based. This hire will focus on global equities (with a U.S. bias) and will play a visible role in shaping and communicating the firm’s tactical equity views to institutional clients.
The Role
This position blends market interpretation, positioning analysis, and client engagement.
You’ll contribute to the firm’s equity strategy output while also engaging directly with fast-money portfolio managers and traders — explaining positioning trends, trade ideas, and tactical views.
The ability to speak credibly and confidently with clients is essential; the analytical and writing elements, while valuable, are secondary to clear, persuasive communication.
Key responsibilities include:
* Communicating tactical equity views to hedge funds and asset managers, with a focus on positioning, sentiment, and flow-based dynamics
* Supporting and developing the firm’s equity positioning frameworks — integrating data on flows, positioning, and cross-asset signals
* Contributing to written research that distils complex positioning themes into clear, market-relevant insights
* Collaborating with macro and data teams to link cross-asset signals with equity market outcomes
* Representing the equity strategy franchise in client calls, roadshows, and bespoke discussions
About You
You’re a commercially minded strategist who thrives on fast-paced interaction with the buy side. You should be comfortable discussing markets in real time, fielding questions from demanding institutional clients, and framing positioning trends in a way that’s directly useful to traders and PMs.
You’ll likely have:
* 5–10 years’ experience in equity strategy, flow analysis, or equity derivatives research
* A strong understanding of positioning, flows, and investor behaviour
* Excellent verbal communication skills and confidence engaging with senior investment professionals
* The ability to write clearly and insightfully (though written output is secondary to client engagement)
* Data fluency or experience working with flow datasets is a plus, but not essential
This is a rare opportunity to join a high-profile macro research platform with global reach — combining tactical insight, data-driven analysis, and direct access to some of the world’s most sophisticated equity investors.
