The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016, requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer-facing posts must be assessed to establish their fluency in English. This is an exciting opportunity for experienced and qualified child care workers to support established teams as and when required at Clockhouse, Wedgewood, Valleyview, and BEST in our learning disabilities specialist provisions. It can be as little as one shift per month up to three shifts per week.
Our services include residential short break services across the district, such as overnight stays, holiday day care, and after-school visits. Your role will support and enhance the young people’s time away from their family home, promoting socialization and community interaction.
Some young people may present challenging behaviors or have complex health needs requiring specialist training and support, including:
* Autistic Spectrum Disorder
* Profound multiple learning disabilities
* Profound multiple physical disabilities
Candidate requirements:
* Must be over 18 years old
* Must have NVQ Level 3 in care of children and young people or equivalent
* Work shifts including weekends and bank holidays, with regular unsociable hours
* Willing to undertake training and development
* Support personal care needs of young people
* Support young people during stress or anxiety
* Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team
* Ability to nurture and support children and young people, ensuring a clean environment and meeting their needs
* Willingness to work with young people who communicate and interact through their own methods and may not follow social conventions
* Complete mandatory and role-specific training
* Open to learning intensive interaction techniques and approaches, able to stay engaged in repetitive situations
