We're hiring: Substance Misuse Nurse Manager / Non-Medical Prescriber
Are you a passionate and experienced nurse committed to supporting individuals on their recovery journey? We are seeking a Substance Misuse Nurse Manager to lead our dedicated clinical team and make a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected by substance use.
About the Role:
As the Substance Misuse Nurse Manager, you will oversee the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care to individuals with substance use issues. This leadership role includes a clinical component, requiring strategic oversight and compassionate patient care. You will also independently assess, diagnose, and prescribe medications to support recovery, including substitute prescribing and detox regimes.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Managing and supporting a team of nurses and healthcare professionals
2. Leading assessment, planning, and delivery of care for service users
3. Ensuring compliance with CQC standards and clinical governance
4. Coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and external partners
5. Driving continuous improvement and innovation in service delivery
6. Supporting professional development through training and supervision
7. Conducting comprehensive assessments of service users' physical and mental health
8. Prescribing and reviewing medication related to substance misuse, including opioid substitution therapy and alcohol detoxification
9. Monitoring treatment effectiveness, adherence, and safety, and adjusting treatment plans accordingly
10. Providing harm reduction advice and support, including naloxone distribution
11. Liaising with GPs, mental health professionals, social workers, and other partners for coordinated care
12. Supporting service users with co-occurring mental or physical health conditions
13. Contributing to service development, quality assurance, and audits

What We're Looking For:
To succeed in this role, you should have:
1. A registered nursing qualification (RMN/RGN/RNLD) with current NMC registration
2. Completed an Independent Prescribing Qualification (Non-Medical Prescriber)
3. Significant experience in substance misuse or mental health settings
4. Strong leadership and team management skills
5. A thorough understanding of harm reduction, safeguarding, and recovery-focused care
6. Ability to inspire, motivate, and lead by example
7. Excellent communication and decision-making skills
