Prototype / R&D Technician – Automotive Audio Systems
Our UK-based automotive customer is seeking a hands-on, motivated Prototype / R&D Technician to support the development and testing of cutting-edge audio systems within vehicles. This is an ideal opportunity for someone early in their engineering career or an experienced technician looking to work in an innovative R&D environment.
Key Responsibilities
Support the assembly of prototype audio systems in and out of vehicles
Assist with testing and validation of prototype systems, including high-voltage testing
Help manage and procure tools, equipment, and components
Assist with vehicle interior strip-down and rebuild
Support wiring harness assembly and electrical integration
Carry out soldering of cables and connectors (training can be provided)
Perform material handling and use of hand tools (cutting, drilling, filing, etc.)
Assist with basic vehicle maintenance while on-site
Monitor vehicle condition, fuel levels, and battery status
Maintain stock levels and order required supplies
What We’re Looking For
Level 3 engineering apprentice (completed or in progress), college student, or recent graduate in a relevant field
Alternatively, an experienced technician with a strong practical background
Hands-on experience with tools and mechanical/electrical tasks
Strong willingness to learn new skills and develop within an R&D environment
Ability to work collaboratively with electrical, audio, and mechanical teams
Good attention to detail and a proactive attitude
