We are currently looking for an Area Cleaning Manager to work closely with Contract Managers, Facilities Managers, Facilities Coordinators, Site Supervisors, and cleaning staff. The role will support the Cleaning Service operational delivery across the county.
The position involves interacting with clients including County Council managers, Head Teachers, School Governors, Town & Parish Councils, and Housing Associations.
You will support the Contracts Manager by understanding and ensuring the safe delivery of each contract, aligned with operating procedures, accreditation, policies, and best practices.
1. Ensure Site Supervisors are fully trained to supervise cleaning staff and implement cost-effective training plans.
2. Report vacancies to the Contracts Manager and support recruitment and selection of new staff.
3. Manage induction and probation periods for new employees, ensuring safe working methods, competence, and understanding of client requirements. Notify the Learning and Development Team of new starters with completed induction records.
4. Identify training needs and refer them to the Contracts Manager.
5. Accurately record overtime, absences, and leave.
6. Coordinate with the Contract Manager/Scheduler to ensure leave and vacancies are covered by the mobile team, reporting any service gaps.
7. Conduct return-to-work interviews and record absences, referring to the Contracts Manager as necessary.
8. Assist with implementing performance management and monitoring systems.
9. Ensure all Specifications/Schedules are met to maintain high client satisfaction, reporting issues to the Contracts Manager.
10. Supervise the workforce to ensure effective service delivery, including regular site visits and communication with cleaners, especially lone workers.
11. Ensure all sites have adequate materials and consumables.
12. Perform water temperature checks for legionella testing.
13. Undertake portable appliance testing.
14. Collaborate with the Contracts Manager to seek innovation, improve productivity, and increase efficiencies.
15. Maintain Quality Management Systems through active monitoring and auditing, ensuring meaningful data collection.
