Full-time Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) – George Ward – Birmingham & Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust
An opportunity has arisen for a full time OTA to work on George Ward, a male acute inpatient ward in Erdington.
Key Responsibilities
* Facilitate group activities, 1:1 sessions and provide assistance to qualified occupational therapy staff, nursing staff and ward manager.
* Support service users to engage in a therapeutic programme of care, as delegated by an occupational therapist, nurse or ward manager, ensuring adherence to the Trust Values.
* Use meaningful activity to promote health, wellbeing and functional abilities of patients as part of a multidisciplinary care plan.
* Assist in the development and delivery of treatment and care plans under the direction and supervision of a qualified Occupational Therapist and in collaboration with the nursing team and ward manager.
* Apply the Occupational Therapy Process to assist in assessment, planning and the implementation of therapeutic activities within an inpatient mental health setting.
* Work collaboratively and flexibly with nursing and support worker staff to meet the diverse needs of service users.
* Engage in activities both on the unit and with individuals accessing community resources to support recovery and timely discharge.
* Demonstrate excellent communication and professional skills to work effectively across the service.
