The role:
NHSGGC is responsible for the health care needs of all children, young people and their families within the Board area.
The SCPT Nursing Service is part of the Specialist Childrens Services and provides highly specialist assessment and treatment for a total child population of approximately 265,000 (NHSGGC data 2013) 0-19 year olds within the Greater Glasgow and Clyde area.
The SCPT Nursing Service will be responsible for leading on nursing clinical governance activity, including the setting, monitoring and review of standards of care and service; responding to complaints; staff support; career-long learning and continuous professional development, to promote clinically effective services.
The SCPT Nursing Service will reflect the NHSGGC transformational and corporate themes in all aspects of their work and will promote opportunities for integrated working across Health and Social Care. The service is part of the Health and Social Care Partnership.
All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

2. These hours will be worked over Monday to Friday 0900 - 1700
3. This post will be based at Gorbals Health & Care Centre, 2 Sandiefield Road, G5 9AB
Key responsibilities:
You will be responsible and accountable for the assessment, planning and implementation of programmes of care as directed by the Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist/Team Leader/Senior Staff Nurse. Programmes of care will be developed in partnership with patients, families, carers and significant others, and will be evidence-based, taking into consideration lifestyle, race, gender, cultural background and factors impacting physical, mental and emotional health.
You will work in partnership with multi-agency colleagues, individuals, local communities, health improvement staff and other agencies to identify and address health needs as part of the health improvement workforce. You will identify and utilise appropriate resources to support families and ensure implementation of local, regional and national policies, procedures and guidelines relevant to the area of practice in pursuit of the highest standards of care.
You will support junior staff with planning, prioritisation and decision-making to ensure client and family needs are met, while providing leadership and acting as a role model by demonstrating the values and beliefs of both the nursing profession and the organisation. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of your own workload as delegated by the Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist/Team Leader and participate in systems of practice support, caseload supervision and personal development planning. Attendance at staff meetings, clinical updates and mandatory training is expected.
You will practice within the legal and ethical framework established by the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) and relevant national legislation to ensure patients interests and wellbeing are maintained. You will also maintain accurate, up-to-date clinical records and care plans in accordance with NMC standards and record-keeping requirements, ensuring compliance with the Data Protection Act and Freedom of Information Act.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
