Core Responsibilities
* Personal Care: Help with bathing, dressing, and grooming; assist with toileting and incontinence care; support with mobility and transfers (e.g., from bed to wheelchair).
* Medication Management: Remind the individual to take medications; assist with administering medications if necessary; monitor health for any changes or side effects from medication.
* Meal Preparation: Plan and cook meals according to dietary requirements; assist with feeding if necessary.
* Household Duties: Light housekeeping (cleaning, laundry, tidying up); grocery shopping or running errands as needed.
* Companionship: Provide emotional and social support; engage in activities the person enjoys (reading, games, hobbies, etc.); ensure the individual feels safe, comfortable, and valued.
* Health Monitoring: Keep track of any changes in physical or mental health; communicate with medical professionals, family, or other caregivers.
* Safety and Well-being: Ensure the home is a safe environment, free from hazards; assist with fall prevention and general safety checks.
Skills and Qualifications
* Experience: Prior experience in caregiving, particularly in live-in or personal care roles, is often preferred.
* Training: Certifications like Caregiver or Health and Social Care qualification, First Aid, and Medication Management training are often required.
