Location
This role will be contractually based at the VMD, Woodham Lane, New Haw, Addlestone, Surrey KT15 3LS. You will be expected to be in the office or working away from home at least 60% of your time. To meet the necessary security requirements for the VMD location, you must have been a resident in the UK for the past three years.

The Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) is the regulatory and policy lead responsible for issues concerning the authorisation, use, and manufacture of veterinary medicines in the UK. Our aim is to protect public health, animal health, and the environment, and promote animal welfare by assuring the safety, quality and effectiveness of veterinary medicines.
Job Summary
The Accounts Payable Manager will play a key role within the VMD finance team, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of purchase invoices and employee expenses, managing the end‑to‑end purchase order process, completing month‑end processes, and providing support during interim and final audit of the VMD Annual Report and Accounts.
Responsibilities
* Overseeing the processing of purchase invoices and staff expenses.
* Processing weekly payment runs, including payments.
* Reconciling daily bank statements.
* Managing the end‑to‑end purchase order process.
* Maintaining supplier and staff details in Sage X3.
* Completing other ad‑hoc tasks including month‑end and audit support.
* Ensuring compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 27001, GDPR and Information Management requirements.
* Acting corporately – meeting, role‑modeling, embedding, and championing the corporate objectives set by the VMD.
Line Management
The role will have line manager responsibility for one Accounts Officer (AO) and will report to the Financial Operations Lead.
Person Specification
Experience
* Leading or working in Accounts Payable.
* Microsoft packages – Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams.
* Accounting software, preferably Sage X3 (training provided).

* An understanding of purchase ledger processes and procedures.
* The ability to prioritise tasks and deliver work to tight deadlines.
* The ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders, offering advice and resolving queries.
