An exciting opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter in Canton, PA, within a K-12 educational setting. This contract position runs from August 20, 2025, to June 4, 2026, with a schedule of Monday through Friday, providing 32.5 to 35 hours of work each week.
Location:Canton, PA
Responsibilities:
* Facilitate effective munication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their hearing peers, teachers, and staff.
* Translate spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa, ensuring students have equal access to educational content.
* Collaborate with educators to support the individual needs of students requiring interpretation services.
* Attend staff meetings and participate in professional development opportunities as required.
Qualifications:
* Minimum of a 3.5 EIPA or fully certified through RID; provisionally certified interpreters may also be considered with relevant experience.
* Strong knowledge of educational practices and policies related to deaf and hard-of-hearing students.
* Excellent interpersonal and munication skills to effectively engage with students, parents, and staff.
* Experience working in K-12 settings is preferred.
